The correct answer is: B-They signal that the narrative is reflecting Stephen's personal experience.

Indeed, James Joyce wrote this novel and used the new literary technique of stream of consciousness. This narrative mode does not describe in a conventional manner the thoughts and emotions that are going through the mind of a character; they actually mimic the jumbled, repetitive  thought processes themselves, providing a supplementary layer of immersion in the literary work for the reader.

In this passage, the exacerbated repetition of the words “pull out his eyes, apologize” depict faithfully the negative and pervasive emotional impact that such words are having on the character’s mind as they reverberate in his mind.

What is a good book? old or new
NARA [144]

Answer:

FROM NORVELT TO NOWHERE

Explanation:

It is a thrilling adventure book where after an explosion, a new crime by an old murderer, and the sad passing of the town's founder, twelve-year-old Jack will soon find himself launched on a mission that takes him hundreds of miles away, escorting his slightly mental elderly mentor, Miss Volker, on her relentless pursuit of the oddest of outlaws. But as their trip turns south in more ways than one, it's increasingly clear that the farther from home they travel, the more off-the-wall Jack and Miss Volker's adventure becomes, in From Norvelt to Nowhere, a raucous road novel about roots and revenge, a last chance at love, and the power of a remarkable friendship.

Which character traits coul be used to describe scrooge at the beggining of A Christmas Carol
Archy [21]
A miserable, bitter old miser, Scrooge hates irrational things like happiness, generosity, and Christmas, until a trio of Ghosts shows him the error of his ways.
Really, what's the deal with Scrooge? It's probably safe to say that there were exactly zero people like him in Dickens's reading public (nobody's that mean, right?), so he's certainly not here to make us identify with his awfulness. So what function does this character play? Well, here are two good ways to think about him.
