James Stephen "Big Jim" Hogg (March 24, 1851 – March 3, 1906) was an American lawyer and statesman, and the 20th Governor of Texas. He was born near Rusk, Texas. Answer: Coronado and his men spent the winter of 1540–1541 near the Rio Grande River near present-day Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was not an easy time, as the Spanish were attacked several times by Native Americans. In the spring of 1541, the group made their way to what is now Texas, moving into the Palo Duro Canyon.
