Compare and contrast the green party’s stance to the libertarian party’s stance on social issues
Gwar [14]

The Libertarian Party (LP) is a political party in the United States that promotes civil liberties, non-interventionism, laissez-faire capitalism, and limiting the size and scope of government. The party was conceived in August 1971 at meetings in the home of David F. Nolan in Westminster, Colorado, and was officially formed on December 11, 1971 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The founding of the party was prompted in part due to concerns about the Nixon administration, the Vietnam War, conscription, and the introduction of fiat money.

The party generally promotes a classical liberal platform, in contrast to the Democratic Party's modern liberalism and progressivism and the Republican Party's conservatism. Gary Johnson, the party's presidential nominee in 2012 and 2016, claims that the Libertarian Party is more culturally liberal than Democrats, and more fiscally conservative than Republicans. Current fiscal policy positions include lowering taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), decreasing the national debt, allowing people to opt out of Social Security and eliminating the welfare state, in part by utilizing private charities. Current cultural policy positions include ending the prohibition of illegal drugs, advocating criminal justice reform, supporting same-sex marriage, ending capital punishment and supporting gun ownership rights.

It is currently the third-largest political party in the United States by voter registration. In the 2020 United States elections, the Libertarians gained a seat in the Wyoming House of Representatives, giving them their first state legislative win since 2000. As of 2020, there were 211 Libertarians holding elected office: 89 of them partisan offices and 122 of them non-partisan offices. 58 of the partisan offices are minor positions in Pennsylvania. There are 609,234 voters registered as Libertarian in the 31 states that report Libertarian registration statistics and Washington, D.C. The first electoral vote for a woman was that for Tonie Nathan of the party for vice president in the 1972 United States presidential election due to a faithless elector supporter who eschewed his expected vote for Richard Nixon.

Why were progressives concerned about industrial concentration?
fgiga [73]
They felt that the robber barons had too much power at both the economic and political levels. By having all the economic resources, those who controlled businesses were able to set the parameters by which their workers were employed, and they were also able to "buy" the required politicians so as to secure their votes on legislation that was favorable to business owners and their interests.

What right does the ninth amendment protect
gayaneshka [121]
The 9th Amendment was put there in order to guarantee that the government would not infringe natural rights just because they weren't already mentioned in the Constitution. Free speech, freedom of religion, and self-defense are natural rights, and if they hadn't already been mentioned, they would be guaranteed by this amendment.

It is interesting to think of other rights which this amendment guarantees. For instance, the right to eat or ingest whatever we choose. The right to bear children. The right to travel freely on public lands. The right to keep the fruits of our labor. The right to privacy. The right to pursue any occupation we desire, without hindrance. The right to barter in trade. The right to seek any medical treatment we choose.

This is a very valuable amendment, and one which stands in our defense against all kinds of possible abuses by government.
