Explanation:

James Wilkinson was an American Soldier and the senior of Zebulon Pike in the military. He was commanded by Wilkinson to head the expedition of Southwestern America in 1805. Even though he achieved most of the objectives of the expedition, he still encountered some challenges.

One of them occurred when he raised the suspicions of the Spanish people. This caused the interception of him and his men and they were led to the Spanish King to explain their mission. Subsequently, they were ordered to leave the territory in 1807. But before then, he was able to gather a lot of vital information, including the flora of the Mississippi River which was expedited.
