How are the mayflower compact similar to the constitution?

The Mayflower Compact is similar to the American Constitution in that it sought to establish a founding document of a polis or political community. Both documents sought to set the course of the political communities future based upon this bedrock document. The specifics of the documents different, however, the notion of creating a political community founded around a central document were the same.
