• Why did slavery start in the colonies?

It started because of Free labor

• How were slaves brought to the colonies?

The Atlantic slave trade they would hit Africa get the merch go England drop stuff of then back to the colonies.

• What types of jobs did slaves do in each colonial region: New England, Middle and the South?  

In the South they would grow cotton. In the middle regions they would grow tobacco. Finally, in the upper regions they would grow indigo.

• Why were the jobs in each region different?

There were different jobs because the landscape and soil terrains were different.  

• Why were slaves important to the colonial economy?

They were important because they made the owner more money than they were bought for and they did a lot of hard work making them with more

The plantation system was developed in the Southern colonies of the US. A plantation system/economy is an economy based on agricultural mass production, usually of a few staple products grown on large farms called plantations.  The Southern Colonies was where the plantation system and lifestyle really flourished because of the better climate and (in most cases) soils and because the necessary labor (slaves) were more accepted as part of life than in the New England, Western, and Middle colonies.
