About 52 aftershocks were felt after the earthquake of 4.5 magnitudes.An estimated 3 million people were affected, and 160,000 deaths occurred.
Haiti is a french colony and sits on the Enriquillo - Plantain Garden fault zone that is at the end of its seismic cycle.
