And so it happens, Odysseus blinds the drunk Cyclops with a piece of wood and when the Cyclops' men come to the rescue, the Cyclops replies that he's being attacked by "Nobody", so his men leave, thinking that he is just not well, enabling Odysseus and his crew to escape.
