(you could just take the time that you messed up and make up a lesson you learned, you don't actually have to learn it, it just has to sound believable)
The Tell Tale Heart is a good coparison of some challenges many eighth graders might face. Including, the guilt of lying or deceiving someone and being extremely annoyed by someone or something.
