The answer is B.

 When a famous author writes a work of literature he has in mind a certain audience to whom he is going to <em>present his beliefs and opinions</em>, which might affect the readers somehow. On the other hand, the reader might agree, accept and even appreciate what the author propose but, for a <em>complete understanding is crucial that  they keep their own beliefs and opinions.</em>

When reading a work of literature by a famous author, it is crucial that you do not suspend the author's beliefs and opinions. It is important to know what the author believes so that you can help yourself understand where they are coming from
