Even according to the Cambridge Dictionary itself, the meaning of "to revise" is: <em>"to look at or consider again an idea, piece of writing, etc. in order to correct or improve it."</em>
In other words, it is this process of reading the work again and checking if everything is the way it should be in the first place.
