What are the differences between autolysis and decomposition? CSI

Biology

Autolysis is a process by which a biological cell self-destructs. It is uncommon in adult organisms and usually occurs in injured cells or dying tissue. It occurs when a lysosome allows the digestive enzymes out of its membranes. The cell then, in effect, digests itself. The effect of autolysis is usually lessened in organelles separated from a cell using cell fractionation, usually by keeping the organelle in the same conditions it was in before removal; usually keeping organelles as 'ice-cold isotonic buffers'.
while Apoptosis(pronounced ă-pŏp-tŏ’sĭs, apo tō' sis) is a form of programmed cell death in multicellular organisms. It is one of the main types of programmed cell death (PCD) and involves a series of biochemical events leading to a characteristic cell morphology and death, in more specific terms, a series of biochemical events that lead to a variety of morphological changes, including blebbing, changes to the cell membrane such as loss of membrane asymmetry and attachment, cell shrinkage, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, and chromosomal DNA fragmentation. Processes of disposal of cellular debris whose results do not damage the organism differentiates apoptosis from necrosis.

What would happen in an ecosystem without decomposers?
tiny-mole [99]

The right answer is: Plant growth would decrease.

Decomposers are living beings directly involved in the decomposition of dead organic matter (necromass) or excrement or excreta of living beings. They play a major role, necessary for the recycling of the elements (minerals, trace elements ...) that make up the organic matter, in an inorganic matter which will subsequently be absorbed by the plants (which explains the decrease of the growth of the plants during the absence of decomposers).

3. During which process do alleles undergo segregation? (1 point)DNA replication. mitosis. meiosis. transcription. .
valentina_108 [34]
3. The answer to your question is B. Meiosis. Alleles undergo segregation during meiosis. The alleles will split into 2 daughter cells; one chromosome for each cell. 4. The answer is homologous chromosomes. Gametes have homologous chromosomes. A gamete is a mature haploid cell. It can either be a male or female gamete. Each haploid cell will unite with another haploid cell of the opposite gender for reproduction. 5. The answer is B. IBi or IBIB. This demonstrates the genotype that corresponds to human blood type.
