Nevertheless, conflicts and diplomacy constitute also large parts of the history of globalization, and modern globalization. Globalization has increased as a result of advances in transportation and communication technology.

I think that the answer is C or D, but I think it because by removing importing/exporting barriers, which helps globalization. Hope this helps! :-)
