Describe the effects of the Great Awakening?
8_murik_8 [283]
The major effect of the Awakening was a rebellion against authoritarian religious rule which spilled over into other areas of colonial life. Amidst the growing population of the colonies within the 18th Century and mass public gatherings, charismatic personalities such as Whitefield and Tennent rolled through to deliver their messages. Though a religious movement, the Awakening had repercussions in cultural and political spheres as well. Customs of civility and courtesy, the governing norms of life in the colonies, were set aside in favor of a more quarrelsome age. Practices and mind-sets were changed by the Awakening like never before.

navik [9.2K]
<span>Nick was well off but certainly not part of the social elite. He is a young man from Minnesota who, after being educated at Yale moves to the suburbs of New York. Nick comes from an upper middle-class background (you had to have money to go to Yale, you still do!) Still , Nick's family did not have a fraction of the money that Gatsby or Tom had.

Why did the colonists believe they should not be taxed by the british government? they wanted to pay taxes to the american gover
larisa [96]
It wasn't that they couldn't pay, it was just like the Hati revolution in a way, they were being taxed by a government that was across the ocean, and provided no benefits to the colonist, like roads or public services. Except  military of course.

How did the system of sharecropping affect landowners and laborers in the South?
kati45 [8]

Answer:

The Answer is 100% C. The system often trapped laborers in a cycle of debt and dependence while allowing landowners to profit from laborers’ hard work.

Explanation:

Sharecropping involved the "sharing" of land and crops. Former slaves would work the owner's fields and keep a portion of the crops to sell and eat themselves. Although this sounded fair, former slaves were often trapped in the debt and could not leave until the mountain of debt was paid. The owners were still profiting from slavery, just without the title.
