In Support of my answer quoting the statements from both the passages.

<em>" Because of the climate-moderating effects of the nearby Gulf Stream, and an abundance of water, a surprising array of colorful flowers, herbs, and vegetables thrives in this garden,..."</em>

In passage 2, there's indirect description of effects of water on the living things. The passage is talking about the climatic conditions of Sahara Dessert when the climate was wet, there were river animals such as crocodiles and hippopotamuses.

<em>"People lived on the edge of the Sahara desert in North Africa thousands of years ago, since the last ice age. The climate of the Sahara was much wetter then than it is today. Evidence of this can be seen in the 30,000 petroglyphs, or rock drawings, of river animals such as crocodiles and hippopotamuses"</em>

The passage is also comparing the climatic conditions of Sahara Dessert thousands years ago and modern Sahara.

Masteriza [31]

After reading “The Nose”, one assumption that a reader might make about Russian culture is that Power and physical beauty are valued in Russia. They regard both equally, not one above the other.

<h3>What do you know about Russian culture?</h3>

Russian literature, ballet, painting, and classical music are all deeply ingrained in its long and rich cultural history. In spite of what foreigners may think, Russia has a tremendously visual cultural history, from its vibrant folk clothes to its elaborate religious symbols.

In "The Nose," a St. Petersburg official's nose escapes his face and takes on a life of its own. The nose transforms into an independent, fully-fledged character that is significantly more powerful than its owner and does not want to acknowledge him.

Hence, the assumption that reader makes about Russian culture is  Power and physical beauty are valued in Russia.
