Of the three poems written by Teasdale I personally enjoyed "Lights" the most. I enjoyed how she expressed how much love filled up her heart that there was no room for emptiness or negative emotions. There is nothing better in the world that being loved and Teasdale really expressed that in the poem. She explained how many people do not have this true and mature love that she has. The other people had to use lights to light up their life while she had love that lit up hers. This effected me because I want to have that kind of love one day. So many people do not have or ever find this kind of pure and unconditional love that keeps your heart full and you never have to wonder or worry again. Teasdale used a lot of imagery in her poem to create a good visual of the main points she wanted to get across. Her word choice was to my liking, she used mature, deep, pure, and meaningful words. The rhyming was nicely placed, because it kept the reader involved and it also helped relate the words to one another, creating a sense of compatibility within the sentences.

Lights

When we come home at night and close the door, Standing together in the shadowy room, Safe in our own love and the gentle gloom, Glad of familiar wall and chair and floor, Glad to leave far below the clanging city; Looking far downward to the glaring street Gaudy with light, yet tired with many feet, In both of us wells up a wordless pity; Men have tried hard to put away the dark; A million lighted windows brilliantly Inlay with squares of gold the winter night, But to us standing here there comes the stark Sense of the lives behind each yellow light, And not one wholly joyous, proud, or free.

I Shall Not Care

When I am dead and over me bright April Shakes out her rain-drenched hair, Though you should lean above me broken-hearted, I shall not care. I shall have peace, as leafy trees are peaceful When rain bends down the bough, And I shall be more silent and cold-hearted Than you are now

Dew

As dew leaves the cobweb lightly Threaded with stars, Scattering jewels on the fence And the pasture bars; As dawn leaves the dry grass bright And the tangled weeds

These are the poems.

Novosadov [1.4K]

“The Texas spirit of fun and hospitality lights up Paseo del Rio, the San Antonio Riverwalk. This travel destination shimmers with color and light. Along the left bank, two lines of café umbrellas—tropical red, Cancun blue, emerald green, lemon yellow—shelter outdoor diners and adorn the cobblestone walk. Above the rainbow rows of umbrellas, white lights strung between oak trees along the walking path glimmer softly in the dusk.

Miniature lights rim the eaves and roofs of the buildings behind the diners and illuminate the drape of the oak branches bending over them.

Diners can stay warm on cool, evenings with fajitas and margaritas as they watch the lights of the Riverwalk and the sunset glimmer upon the water. As they watch, a steady flow of trimmed boats putter to midstream from under the bridge on the right side of the river.

On this side of the river, the rock walls and the footbridge showcase the beauty of the area’s natural elements and earth tones. Lights trace the arch under the footbridge. Luminaries sit atop both sides of the bridge’s stone-grey railings. At the far side of the bridge, more luminaries light the path along the water’s edge.

People fill the path with laughter and conversation as they stroll beneath trees shimmering with countless lights. All along the river, this canopy of lights buffers the Riverwalk from the buildings rising in the distance. The lights, the good food, the water, the spectacle of color, the festive atmosphere provide a retreat—Texas style!”

In fact, in the second version, the description is nice but lacks the enchantment of details that makes the first one so attractive. In the first version one can almost feel like if we were in there. It's fantastic description that motivates us to rush traveling there.
