1. Well, if you know the difference between dominant and recessive, then this is an easy one. Dominant = Big trait, the most likely for offspring to inherit. Recessive = Small trait, least likely for offspring to inherit. So, if all of them got yellow seeds...

2. At least one of the plants must be Heterozygous, which means they carry one dominant trait and one recessive trait. If 75% got smooth pods and 25% got wrinkled pods...

These are pretty easy if you know about Dominant and Recessive, and Heterozygous and Homozygous (Parent with 2 identical alleles)

Answer:

1. A. The allele for yellow seeds is dominant because all of the offspring have yellow seeds.

2. B. The allele for wrinkled pods must be recessive because the trait does not appear in the parent plants.

Explanation:

In the first case, the allele for yellow seeds is clearly dominant, most likely homozygous because all the offspring, in two generations, have the same trait.

In the second case, the allele for wrinkled pods is clearly recessive, because even though the parents do not display this trait, it appears in the offspring. Also, dominant and recessive traits are commonly displayed in a 3 to 1 ratio. Dominant traits are more common because both heterozygous and homozygous organisms display the dominant phenotype, smooth pods in this case.

What is the role of dna replication in the process of cellular reproduction?
Sergeeva-Olga [200]
Most cells grow, perform the activities needed to survive, and divide to create new cells. These basic processes, known collectively as the cell cycle, are repeated throughout the life of a cell. Of the various parts of the cell cycle, the division portion is particularly important, because this is the point at which a cell passes its genetic information to its offspring cells. In many situations, division also ensures that new cells are available to replace the older cells within an organism whenever those cells die. Prokaryotic cells, which include bacteria, undergo a type of cell division known as binary fission. This process involves replication of the cell's chromosomes, segregation of the copied DNA, and splitting of the parent cell's cytoplasm. The outcome of binary fission is two new cells that are identical to the original cell.

5. What is the correct description of the genotype for individuals that express the trait cystic fibrosis?
vekshin1

Answer:

homozygous recessive

Explanation:

Cystic fibrosis is a recessive genetic disorder. It means that the trait is caused due to the presence of a recessive allele. The recessive alleles are expressed only in homozygous recessive genotypes. Individuals that express the disorder cystic fibrosis should have two copies of a recessive allele of the gene, that is, the genotype should be homozygous recessive.

If "C" allele is the normal healthy allele and "c" allele is cystic fibrosis allele, the genotype of the affected individual would be "cc".
