After the fall of Constantinople the only remaining center of the Orthodox Church was the Russian Empire and they called it the Third Rome after the fall of Constantinople. Becoming the new center of the Orthodox Church the Russian Empire tries to expand its power and preserve the culture of the church after the fall of Constantinople.
