The glaciers are basically slow moving masses of frozen water, or rather ice. All the ice in the world is part of the cryosphere. The glaciers move downward, as their movement is influenced by the gravity.

As the large ice mass moves downward, it creates lot of pressure on the geosphere in which it slides upon. The ice of glaciers is very heavy, and helped by the movement, it manages to change the part of the geosphere on which it moves. This creates numerous different shapes in the landscape, as the movement of the glacier manages to erode the geosphere on which it moves upon.

The glaciers and the shapes made in the landscape from them can be found primarily in the higher latitudes, or in the places that have higher elevation in the lower latitudes.
