Islam started to spread into southeast asia through India. After that, a considerable amount of the population became muslims. While some muslims stayed in India and co-existed with Hindus, a large portion became traders and relocated to Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and parts of the Philippines. Even though Spain and the Netherlands sucessfully converted a lot of the population of the Philippines and Indonesia to christianity, muslims represents the majority of the religion in the latter. anzhelika [568]

PLantation owners in Virginia and Maryland preferred West African slaves because tobacco prices had declined in the late 17th century and the plantation owners were struggling with the input cost incurred in tobacco cultivation.Initially, they were able to manage with British indentured servants but as British economy grew, they stopped coming to USA.Hence Virginia and Maryland plantation owners preferred West African slaves because tobacco cultivation is labor intensive in both cultivation and processing though farms became larger and more efficient.
