The poem "Black snake" uses figuretive language to create meaning. Discribe how similies and metaphors create meaning in the poe
Strike441 [17]
Metaphors are used to represent the appearence of the snake. They create the meaning of a rough skinned, black and ribbed snake. The snake is similar to the appearence of a rounded tire. This gives the reader an imagination of what the snake looks like. Similes are also used in this poem to give a clear picture of the position of the snake. It appears the black snake looks very light and limp.

How does O’Henry draw upon themes, events, or character types from myths or traditional stories and render them new in “the prin
Lostsunrise [7]

In the story "The Princess and the Puma," O. Henry tells the story of a woman called Josefa, a man called Givens, and their encounter with a puma. In the story, O. Henry draws on several themes, events and characters from myths and other traditional stories.

For example, O. Henry draws on the theme of love, as he shows how far the two people are willing to go with their lies and their tales in order to protect their image in front of the person they love.

O. Henry also draws on an event common in myths, which is the fight between hero and beast. However, instead of the hero of this story succeeding, he is saved by a woman. This is a new take on a traditional subject.

Finally, O. Henry draws upon characters such as princesses, knights and lions that come from traditional stories and applies them in a modern Mexican setting.

vodka [1.7K]

The correct response is - The Canterbury Tales: Chaucer's View of the Church By examining "The Canterbury Tales," one can deduce that Chaucer acknowledged the church's virtues but did not necessarily hold them in high regard. Some clergy members are perceived as pious and God-fearing, while others are despised as con men and charlatans.

What are "Canterbury tales"?

Geoffrey Chaucer composed The Canterbury Tales, a collection of twenty-four tales totaling more than 17,000 lines, between 1387 and 1400. It is frequently referred to as Chaucer's greatest work.

A group of pilgrims making their way to Canterbury Cathedral compete in a storytelling competition in The Canterbury Tales. The pilgrims have a reason to tell their stories, which reflect the anxieties sparked by the social upheavals of late medieval England, because of this overarching plot, or frame.

Traditionally, The Canterbury Tales was published in 1387. (although some tales appear to have been written before then). 92 manuscripts of the poem still exist, though none of them are from Chaucer's lifetime. The poem as we know it was created by scribes in the fifteenth century.
