By it, children under 16 couldn’t work in the mines, children under 14 could only work from 6 am to 7 pm, and no one could sell things produced by factories that employed children under the age of fourteen. <u>It was a law that was supposed to manage physical child labor and exploitation. </u>

<u>It was accepted by congress on the second attempt, but only nine months later the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled this statute to be unconstitutional. </u>
