Now that you have worked through a lot of material that includes these basic patterns, and you have compared grammatically corre

ct and incorrect sentences, write down what you think is a rule that could explain what makes a sentence grammatically correct or not. For example, you might write something like: "verbs always match nouns in number, and they usually come before the noun." In other words, make your best guess for the grammar rule that makes sense out of the pattern(s) you see in the phrases you have been working with. Review if you need to, and you might briefly check your hunches against the sentences you have been working with in this or previous modules. Keep in mind that what you're after is your hunch, not a grammar rule from a text book. Now check your hunch with the explanation of this principle in the following pattern. I have to identify a pattern from this passage below: Instruction:Compare the following well-formed translations with grammatically incorrect sentences (indicated with an asterisk at the beginning) and note any patterns you recognize: English Right Wrong We always used to go to the lake during the summer. Siempre íbamos al lago durante el verano. *Siempre fuimos al lago durante el verano. She used to go to the house. Ella iba a la casa. *Ella fue a la casa. It was 4 P.M. Eran las cuatro de la tarde. *Fueron las cuatro de la tarde. Suddenly, he screamed and fell to the ground. We went to see what happened. De repente, él gritó y cayó al suelo. Fuimos a ver lo que pasó. *De repente, él gritaba y cayó al suelo. Íbamos a ver lo que pasó. He fell to the ground. I went to see what happened. El cayó al suelo. Fui a ver lo que pasó. *El cayó al suelo. Iba a ver lo que pasó.

Answer:

All the sentences are about pass habits or events that happened in the past.

Explanation:

The sentences are describing habits in the past or activities that started and finished in the past without interruption. For example, if I say - *El cayó al suelo. Iba a ver lo que pasó.- I am saying that I was going to see what happened when suddenly he felt. Is an action that was interrupted by another action in the past.

In the case of the sentences that are describing activities in the past, it is incorrect to say, for example  - *Siempre fuimos al lago durante el verano- because it is stating that this year, we also are going to the lake because we always go there during summer. What the sentence is trying to say is that we went there every summer but not anymore.

vampirchik [111]

Answer:

Imagine you have to move to Santiago, Chile, for work and need to find a good place to live. Go online to review the kinds of accommodation that are available.

You can adjust your preferences based on whether you'd like to rent or buy a place, whether you want an apartment or a house, how much you are willing to pay, how many rooms you need, and other such factors.

Write a paragraph in Spanish explaining which type of accommodation you would choose and why. Include information on the mortgage or rent, and discuss the utilities you'd expect to pay depending on what you choose. Your answer should include the following points:

• whether you'd like an apartment or a house, rented or owned, and why

• the layout of the house, including number of rooms, bathrooms, terrace, veranda, etc.

• your budget for the rent/cost of the accommodation and estimate of the utility bills
