Hull House was a settlement house in the United States that was co-founded in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr<span>. Located in the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois, Hull House (named for the home's first owner) opened its doors to recently arrived European immigrants.</span>

Hull house was a settlement house. The main purpose of Hull House was offering social services and education to working-class people, which mostly were immigrants. Services offered by Hull House including

  5. Financial assistance
  6. Craft class
  7. Cultural class
  8. Medical aid.

Although it wasn't the first settlement house in the United States, Hull House became a role model for other settlement houses.  

Hull house located in Halsted street in the middle of immigrants neighborhood in Chicago. At that time, Chicago was the 6th largest industrial city in the world. It offered many jobs opportunities that attracted many immigrants. Because many immigrants looking for works, the wages were low and poverty widespread. The Hull House has an important role in helping immigrants in the United States settled in and also improving the immigrant's quality of life.
