Answer:

She tells about a woman and her baby who fly away into the air after a man named Toby whispers some magical words into their ears.

Explanation:

In the folklore "People Could Fly", Virginia Hamilton tells the story of people who could fly away from their tragic lives in the plantations as slaves. She tells the story about a woman and her baby who flew away into the air after a man named Toby whispered some magical words into their ears. The woman and the baby who were being constantly beaten and lashed by the overseer were finally set free by the man who made them fly into the air. Similarly many other slaves were made to fly into the air by the same man when they were ill treated or beaten by the owners severely. The lesson that Virginia Hamilton shares through this story is that slaves were finally freed when they could fly into the air. Perhaps the word 'fly' has deeper meaning but on the surface, it essentially means freedom from misery and I'll treatment.

20 points!!!!!!!!!!!!
enot [183]

Answer:

Option 1 and 2

Explanation:

He emphasizes the phrase "now is the time" to bring attention to the fact that it is now time to fulfill the promises.

He develops a sense of urgency with metaphors and similes that show the power of the moment: for instance, by using the metaphor “quick sand of racial injustice… [and] solid rock of brotherhood,” he compares unstable sand to stable rock, delivering the message that the longer Americans allow racial discrimination to be accepted, the deeper in poverty the Negro will sink, unable to escape the “quick sand of racial injustice” (King).
