The answer comes from using proportions.  3lbs to 14 people.  Turn that into a fraction, then make a second fraction with 55 as the denominator.  Find a common denominator for both denominator values, and multiply the numerators to find the missing value.

So what I would do is divide 14 or the people by 3 or the pounds, to get Pounds per Person.

So what I would do is:

14 / 3 = 4.6 pounds per person.

So you have 55 people so you would multiply 55 by 4.6

55 • 4.6 = 253

253 pounds are needed

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Perpendicular lines are lines whose slopes are negative reciprocals of each other

To find the slope of the line we are given, we can rearrange the equation

4x - 5y = 4\\4x - 4 = 5y\\y = \frac{4}{5}(x) - \frac{4}{5}

The slope of this line is \frac{4}{5}, so the slope of the other line is \frac{-5}{4}

next, we can use the given point to find the equation y = mx +b

we know m, we can solve for b

y = \frac{-5}{4}(x) + b\\-3 = \frac{-5}{4}(-2) + b\\-3 = \frac{5}{2} + b\\\frac{-6}{2} = \frac{5}{2} + b\\

b = \frac{-11}{2}

so,\\y = \frac{-5}{4}(x) - \frac{11}{2}

Cindy owns a rectangular lot that is 18 yards long and 45 feet wide. She is going to cover the lot with square pieces of sod. If
DiKsa [7]
FIND LOT AREA:
Area = length * width
A= 18 feet * 45 feet
A= 810 feet squared

FIND # OF YARDS:
1 yard= 3 feet

Divide number of square feet by number of feet per yard.
Yards= 810 ÷ 3
Yards= 270

FIND PRICE OF SOD:
multiply number of yards by price per square yard.
Price= 270 yards * $12/yard
Price= $3,240

ANSWER: Cindy will pay $3,240 to cover the lot with sod.

Hope this helps! :)

Maria average 81 on her first three History exams. the first score was 83. The second score was 4 less than the third score. Wha
bogdanovich [222]

Answer:

76 on second exam, 80 on third exam

Step-by-step explanation:

First, find the total of all 3 test scores by multiplying the average by the number of elements. 81 · 3 = 243.

The first score is 83 so 243 - 83 = 160. 160 is the other two test scores combined.

To find the other 2 scores, divide 160 by 2, which is 80.

The second score is 4 less so it will be 76. The third score is 80.
