Answer:

The War Production Board (WPB for short) was an agency of the United States government that was founded in 1942 after the United States entered the war on the orders of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The purpose of the WPB was to divide the material, personnel and production resources so that effective armament production could be built and maintained. Donald M. Nelson was chairman until 1944, who was then replaced by Julius A. Krug.   After the surrender of Japan, the agency was dissolved in November 1945.
