Answer:

1. The plants released oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere. This reduced the harshness of sunlight and made Earth ideal for life.

2. The plants use sunlight and carbon dioxide for the process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis produced oxygen which was released in the air by the plants.

3. The sunlight made the Earth very hot. This newly formed oxygen helped in shielding the Earth from the sunlight.

4. This helped in cooling the Earth and produced an environment which made it possible for other life forms to develop.

It has been proven that the earth's present continents were once together as a pangaea as seen from:
arlik [135]
The lines of evidence that support the THEORY OF CONTINENTAL DRIFT proves that the continents were once joined in one landmass called Pangea. The theory states that continental masses have changed their relative positions over the course of time. The earliest theories were based on apparent similarity of coastlines along each side of the Atlantic Ocean, especially the fitting of South America into Africa.
Other lines of evidence include the discovery similar freshwater animal species that are oceans apart or tropical species of plant and animals found in areas now almost totally covered in ice. These prove that the continents have previously been in other locations.
