Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

Think:  2.39 is sandwiched between the perfect squares 1 and 4.

The difference between 1 and 4 is 3.  From 1 to 2.39 is a step of 1.39; from 2.39 to 4 is a step of 1.61.  Therefore, 2.39 is closer to 1 than to 4, and we estimate 2.39 to be 2 (to the nearest integer).

In October flowers cost $1.50 each. The October price was a 20% increase of the September price. What was the price of of the fl
Anvisha [2.4K]

Hey there!!

Let's write $1.5 as 15 / 10

15/10 = 3/2

$3/2

October price = $3/2

Let's take September price as ' x '

If we take a look at the question, we know

October price = 20% of September + September price

20% = 20/100 = 1/5

Of = multiplication

Plug in the values

3/2 = x/5 + x

LCM = 5

3/2 = 6x / 5

Multiplying by 5 on both sides

15/2 = 6x

Dividing by 6 on both sides

15/2 / ( 6 ) = x

15/2 × 1/6 = x

15/12 = x

15/12 = $1.25

The price in September = $1.25

Hope my answer helps!

Mr. Walker gave his class the function f(x) = (x + 3)(x + 5). Four students made a claim about the function. Each student’s clai
Scrat [10]

the only student that is correct is Stepheh. "The vertex is at (–4, –1)."

<h3>Which claims are true?</h3>

Here we have the quadratic equation:

f(x) = (x + 3)*(x + 5)

The first claim is: "The y-intercept is at (15, 0)."

This is clearly false, as the y-intercept is at x = 0, and in that point we have x = 15.

The second claim is:

"The x-intercepts are at (–3, 0) and (5, 0)"

This is false, in the factored equation we can see that the x-intercepts are x =-3 and x = -5.

Third claim:

"The vertex is at (-4, -1)"

The middle value between the zeros is:

(-3 + (-5))/2 = -4

Evaluating the function in x = -4 we get the y-value of the vertex:

f(-4) = (-4 + 3)*(-4 + 5) = -1*1 = -1

So the vertex is at (-4, -1), this claim is true.

The fourth claim is:

"The midpoint between the x-intercepts is at (4, 0)."

Which is false, we already saw that the midpoint between the x-intercepts is at x = -4

Then the only student that is correct is Stepheh. "The vertex is at (–4, –1)."
