They weren’t informed on how big of an issue it was so they weren’t really afraid of it. When the Great Depression began, Hoover and Henry Ford told the people it would be a short time period, however it was not. The texans and Texan politicians made the mistake of believing the very powerful and influential men. Nobody expected it to last long and they didn’t take it very seriously. When they realized that it was actually a problem, it was too late.

In addition, her family at the same time would like to give honor to Berenice Abbott as she is the one who took the photograph. Moreover, Abbott is known as the American documentary Photographer in her time.
