The difference in length between a monarch butterfly and a bumblebee greater than the difference in length between a walking stick and grasshopper.

Solution:

Length of Monarch butterfly = 3\frac{1}{2} in

Length of Bumble bee = \frac{5}{8} in

Difference between their lengths

                                   =3\frac{1}{2}-\frac{5}{8}

To convert mixed fraction into improper fraction.

                                    =\frac{7}{2}-\frac{5}{8}

To make the denominator same, multiply and divide the first term by 4.

                                    =\frac{28}{8}-\frac{5}{8}

                                   =\frac{23}{8}

Difference between length of Monarchy and Bumble bee is \frac{23}{8} in.

Length of Walking stick = 4 in

Length of Grasshopper = 1\frac{3}{4} in

Difference between their lengths

                                   =4-1\frac{3}{4}

To convert mixed fraction into improper fraction.

                                    =\frac{4}{1}-\frac{7}{4}

To make the denominator same, multiply and divide the first term by 4.

                                    =\frac{16}{4}-\frac{7}{4}

                                   =\frac{9}{4}

Difference between length of Walking stick and Grasshopper is \frac{9}{4} in.

Compare: \frac{23}{8} and \frac{9}{4}

To compare the fractions, make the denominator same.

So multiply and divide \frac{9}{4} by 2, we get

\frac{23}{8} and \frac{18}{8}

$\frac{23}{8}>\frac{18}{8}

Hence the difference in length between a monarch butterfly and a bumblebee greater than the difference in length between a walking stick and grasshopper.

8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

\dfrac{5}{8} butter was left after she was done baking.

Step-by-step explanation:

Robin had 7/8 pound of butter when she started baking a cake. She used 1/4 pound of butter while baking.

We need to find how much butter was left after she was done baking.

It can be calculated as follows,

Left =

=\dfrac{7}{8}-\dfrac{1}{4}\\\\=\dfrac{7}{8}-\dfrac{2}{8}\\\\=\dfrac{7-2}{8}\\\\=\dfrac{5}{8}

Hence, \dfrac{5}{8} butter was left after she was done baking
