Excretes waste: The excretion process, is done mainly by lungs (release of carbon dioxide), kidneys (elimination of excess compounds such as nitrogen) and the skin (sweat regulates temperature but also regulates the concentration of salts within the body)

Nails: It protects the soft tissues surrounding the distal phalanx, but it also exerts pressure over on the digits which allows more precission in the movements.

Kidneys: Eliminate waste from the blood and regulate body fluids, by generating urine.

Bladder: In charge of storing the urine produced by the kidneys, for the urination process to be controlled and not so frecuent.

Suppose that exposure to a chemical mutagen results in a change in the sequence that alters the 5' end of intron 1 (I₁). What mi
Igoryamba

Answer:

d. inclusion of I1 in the mRNA

Explanation:

Introns are any nucleotide sequence within the gene that is non-coding and it is usually removed by RNA splicing.

When an RNA transcript is made, it is considered as pre-mRNA. The pre-RNA contains both the introns and the exons. For it to mature into mRNA, the introns should be spliced and the exons are joined together to form the mRNA.

A mutation might result to the intron I1 not getting spliced hence it will be included in the mRNA.

First line of defense. Second line of defense. Third line of defense. Innate defense system. Adaptive defense system.
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

First line of defense - A.

Second line of defense - D.

Third line of defense - C.

Innate defense system - B.

Adaptive defense system - C.

Explanation:

The first line of protection involves physical and chemical defences that are both available and ready to defend the body from infection. These include your skin, mucus, tears, cilia and flow of urine.

Second line of defence involves inflammatory resposnes such as redness at infected area, sneezing, cough, and swelling sue to invasion of pathogens.

The third line of protection involves immune resposne in which immune system forms antibody against the pathogens with the help of B-cells and T-cells.

Innate immunity involves first and secon line of defense which come into play immediately after the appearance of an antigen in the body. Such processes involve the physical barriers that target foreign cells in the body such as blood hormones, skin and immune system cells.

The adaptive defence involves antibodies and lymphocytes and occurs with the help of innate immune system. Lymphocytes-B cells and T cells are the components of the adaptive immune system.

Hence, the correct match is"

First line of defense - A.

Second line of defense - D.

Third line of defense - C.

Innate defense system - B.

What are some negative effects humans have on wetlands?
saw5 [17]
Wetlands are often drained in many regions to facilitate human use of the land. This happens a lot within the Pairie Provinces of Canada, where wetlands are drained to make way for agriculture. Wetlands are also often drained so as to use the land for building houses. Humans have also altered the flow of rivers through constructing dams and over-abstracting water. In many regions, depressions that would have been flooded in the past to form wetlands are no longer saturated. Wetlands also act as a 'sink' for many pollutants, and much of the pollution released into upstream rivers by humans may settle into the relatively stagnant waters of wetlands, to be absorbed into the sediments, where often it acts as a chronic pollutant, negatively effecting the aquatic ecosystem and water quality downstream.
