The correct answer to this open question is the following.
To appreciate all the instrumentation and the beautiful music we are about to enjoy in an orchestra performance, we have to know first, how instruments are divided or arranged on stage. The violins are on the left of the conductor. The cellos and the basses are on the right of the conductor. The violas are in the middle. The percussion and woodwind are behind. And finally, the brass instruments are behind the cellos. So. understanding this, you are really going to enjoy the performance.
The differences that I observe between an orchestral performance and a rock concert are, first of all, we are talking about two completely different music styles. Rock music is strident, powerful, loud. Its lyrics are about youth, rebellion, and love; probably anarchy.
The rock concert experience is based not only on music but on the show: lights, sound, pyrotechnics. It is a show, while the orchestra concert is music performance.
I enjoy both, but of course, I love my rock bands and their shows.
