When one annotates, what is involved is usually whatever will help a student (or reader) do whatever it is he or she needs to be done by manner of in-text note taking in order to best understand the text being read.  For instance, typically, in the margins of a text, notes can be taken that provide a summary of a paragraph.  Areas of the text, too, can be highlighted/underlined that are confusing as a reminder to do additional research on otherwise confusing concepts presented in a text.  Some students will circle key words and definitions and even write down questions or ideas he or she may have had when reading for later class discussion or future research.  Thus, again, annotating is a type of in-text note taking one may do in order to help him or her better comprehend a text.

When doing a close reading, some find it useful to annotate the text by putting in little notes and explanations of what is being said. This helps the reader remember details. This can be done in the margins of the text or on a separate pad.

AlekseyPX

Although the dentist found nothing wrong with Sue's teeth, she still had a toothache, so she went to bed.- this is a complex sentence.

Option: D

Explanation:

In English language sentence is always made up of two clauses. One independent or principal clause and one dependent or subordinate clause. Independent clause means a sentence which can stand alone, no need of being with coordinating or subordinating clauses. For e.g. Sue's mouth still hurt.

Dependent clause means which sentence needs help of another sentence through conjunction to be meaningful. Like Although the dentist found nothing wrong with Sue's teeth, she still had a toothache, so she went to bed. In complex sentence there must be one dependent clause.
