1. When Frederick Douglass stated,
Alik [6]

Answer:

He meant that the act was made to increase the power of slave states.

Explanation:

He made that statement when he's commenting about the Fugitive slave act of 1850. This act was made to made sure slaves that escaped  the free states to be returned to the owners.

Douglass believed that this act was a conspiracy that made by legislators from Sothern states to expand the power of the slave states.

Mason & Dixon lines were the lines that separated the slaves states and free states region. Douglass believed that the fugitive slave act of 1850 made this line basically obsolete. The free states wouldn't be able to provide protection to African American like they intended to.

Describe the event that took place in 1802 in New Orleans that almost led to a war between Spain and the United States
Mrac [35]

Answer:

While New Orleans was under Spanish rule, a treaty known as the Treaty of San Lorenzo was signed by the Spanish and Americans in 1795. This treaty allowed Americans living on the western side of the Appalachian Mountains to store their goods and use the port to transport these goods free of charge. In 1802, the Spanish revoked the treaty. This upset many Americans and caused tension between the Americans and Spanish, as well as the French, who were rumored to have retained their claim to part of the Louisiana Territory. President Jefferson tried to ease the tension by sending a delegate to France to negotiate solutions to these issues.
