Estuary- the part of the mouth or lower course of a river in which the rivers current meets the seas tide

Gulf- a part of an ocean or sea that extends into the land

Harbor- a deep body of water that protects boats near land

Marsh- type of wetland with soil that is rich in minerals

Mesa- flat topped mountain or hill

Mid-ocean ridge- an elevated region with a Central Valley on an ocean floor at the boundary between two diverging tectonic plates where new crust forms from upwelling magma

Peninsula- an area of land almost completely surrounded by water except for an isthmus connecting it with the mainland

Plateau- area of raised land that is flat on top

Reservoir- a natural or artificial place where water is collected and stored for use

Rift Valley- an elongated valley formed by the depression of a block of the earths crust between two faults or groups of faults of approximately parallel orientation

The maps have multiple elements, and one of those elements is the scale. The scale can be found on the lower part on the map, on the left side. It serves to give us the information about the distance on the map, in comparison to the actual distance in reality. This information can be shown either as unit to unit, or as measurement to measurement.

Example:

1:100,000

This means that one unit on the map, will be equal to 100,000 same units in actual distance. So 1 cm on the map, will be 100,000 cm in real life.
