After Jackson ordered all land sales to be completed with silver and gold, citizens started to use their paper money on other items, such as foreign goods.

Since paper money was no longer valuable in terms of buying land, citizens had to find another way to use it. They decided to use it on foreign goods, as other countries were still openly accepting the American paper currency from citizens rather than demanding gold and silver.
