What was the main reason for the English Civil War of 1642?
enyata [817]

Answer:

A. The parliamentarians demanded that some of the kings power be transferred to them which angered the royalists

Explanation:

The English Civil War was a war which started on the 22nd of August, 1642 and it ended on the 3rd of September, 1651. The countries involved were England, Ireland and Scotland.

Basically, the war typically between the Royalists known as Cavaliers and the Parliamentarians, who were referred to as Roundheads on issues that bordered around the governance of England and religious freedom.

Based on the Divine Rights of Kings, King Charles I believed he was appointed by God to rule the people and as such, he should only be answerable to God and not anyone else such as the parliament. King Charles I wanted a supreme power because he didn't want his decisions being queried by the parliaments and this prompted the parliamentarians to seek for separation of power.

Hence, the main reason for the English Civil War of 1642 was that, the parliamentarians demanded that some of the kings power be transferred to them which angered the royalists.
