We can set up a proportion to solve this problem as follows:

height of the model/width of the model= height of the actual/width of the actual

24/18=60/x

Cross multiply,

24x=18*60

24x=1080

x=45 ft.

Therefore the answer is 45 ft.

Solve the system of linear equations by substitution
elena-s [515]
There is the equal values method, so you can do:

x-4 = 4x-10 (remove x from both sides)
-4 = 3x -10 (add ten to both sides)
6 = 3x  (devide by 3x)
2 = x

Check: (by plugging it into the equation)
y = 2-4 and y = 8-10
y = -2 and y = -2
that's matches so it is correct...
 YOUR ANSWER IS:
(2, -2)

If 5(3x-7)=25, then what is 6x-8?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

6x - 8 = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve the equation for x

5(3x - 7) = 25 ( divide both sides by 5 )

3x - 7 = 5 ( add 7 to both sides )

3x = 12 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 4

Thus

6x - 8 = 6(4) - 8 = 24 - 8 = 16

All possible roots of x^3+7x^2-12x-18
horrorfan [7]

Solve for x: by completing the square:

x^3 + 7 x^2 - 12 x - 18 = 0

The left hand side factors into a product with two terms:

(x + 1) (x^2 + 6 x - 18) = 0

Split into two equations:

x + 1 = 0 or x^2 + 6 x - 18 = 0

Subtract 1 from both sides:

x = -1 or x^2 + 6 x - 18 = 0

Add 18 to both sides:

x = -1 or x^2 + 6 x = 18

Add 9 to both sides:

x = -1 or x^2 + 6 x + 9 = 27

Write the left hand side as a square:

x = -1 or (x + 3)^2 = 27

Take the square root of both sides:

x = -1 or x + 3 = 3 sqrt(3) or x + 3 = -3 sqrt(3)

Subtract 3 from both sides:

x = -1 or x = 3 sqrt(3) - 3 or x + 3 = -3 sqrt(3)

Subtract 3 from both sides:

Answer:  x = -1 or x = 3 sqrt(3) - 3 or x = -3 - 3 sqrt(3)
