As a reaction to the 500th commemoration of Christopher Columbus' appearance in North America in 1992, the craftsman Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Indian Nation, made an enormous blended media canvas called Trade (Gifts for Trading Land with White People).
