Many Northerners began to call for an end to reconstruction because of the Panic of 1873, which subsequent economic depression helped bring Reconstruction to a formal end.

This financial crisis decreased the northern interest in spending more federal funds on the Reconstruction of the South, and further weakened the Republican Party, allowing Democrats to regain the House of Representatives in 1874.

In addition to this, many former abolitionists believed that their purposes had been reached with the passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments and the establishment of the Freedman´s Bureau and Military reconstruction.

g100num [7]

Answer:

Creon expects total obedience from his subjects

Explanation:

In scene 1 of Antigone, we can see the order that Creon issued for no one to make a funeral for Polynices, and whoever disobeyed him would be punished with death. This shows how Creon demanded his respect for authority and expected everyone to obey him. However, Antígone is willing to make the funeral of Polynices, because she believes that the inmotion deserves to be veiled as a member of the family and not an indigent.
