This is the day to day problem of a medical microbiology laboratory: the "tube containing a liquid nutrient medium" in the real world could, for example, represent blood culture bottles (aerobic or anaerobic). The basic process is as follows: a loop is first flamed to ensure sterility and then used to transfer a small portion of bacterial-laden liquid media to the agar medium by streaking it across the surface of a sterile petri dish. The dish is then covered, inverted, and placed in an appropriate incubator. When colonies begin to form on the surface of the agar plate, individual colonies can be taken up using the sterile loop for analysis or further propagation. The assumption is that a single colony represents growth from a single bacterium.

IRISSAK [1]
Are the pythons a new species?
How can the python population be controlled?
How quickly are pythons reproducing in the Everglades?
<span>How are the pythons affecting other animal populations?

Among the choices, the question least likely to be asked is ARE THE PYTHONS A NEW SPECIES?

It may be asked but the other three questions are more important. This is because we need to know the effect of the growing python population has on the existence of other animals in the Florida Everglades.
Pythons are hunters. Uncontrolled population growth will result to the decrease of the population of other animals because they are the prey of the pythons. Therefore, rate of reproduction and observation regarding their immediate effect to their environment are of utmost importance compared to whether pythons are new species or not.

The first step in growth factor pathway activation is
timurjin [86]

Answer:

The correct option is C. receptor dimerizaton.

Explanation:

Growth Factors are protein substances found in our blood and play an important role in intercellular communication. These protein substances bind to receptors on the surface of the cell, with the main result of the activation of cell proliferation and / or differentiation.  Many growth factors are very versatile, stimulating cell division in numerous different cell types, while others are specific to a particular cell type.

For the activation of a growth factor, dimerization or oligomerization of the receptor is necessary for kinase activity to occur, triggering intracellular signaling cascades. The dimerization can be between two identical receptors (homodimerization) or between different members of the same family (heterodimerization). The dimerization of the receptor, leads to the activation of its tyrosine kinase and the transphosphorylation of the tyrosine residues, releasing a signal transduction into the cell.
