Answer:

B)

Water pollution causes flooding due to the accumulation of solid waste and soil erosion in streams and rivers. Oil spills in the water causes animal to die when they ingest it or encounter it. Oil does not dissolve in water so it causes suffocation in fish and birds. Or when chemicals and harmful substances from the air get into water, when it floods, the flooding water that is now dangerous can get everywhere. It can get into our drinking sources, contaminate our soil, and even getting wet in it can harm you When all this polluted water floods the land, more damange is caused to the envirnoment and ecosystem.

I hope this helps! :)

Answer:

D) Forests are cleared for farming and timber.

Explanation:

Deforestation is a problem in that as there are no longer trees and obstacles to impede the flow of the water when it floods, the force and amount of water will cause even more damage than it would otherwise.

describe and explain the current situation for people in the rainforest and the dangers for the rainforest itself
Lorico [155]

Answer:

Without rainforests, we won't be able to make anymore medicine because plants in the rainforest are being studied for new types of medicine. Another reason is that all the animals there will die and have no habitat, also the rainforests supply a vital amount of oxygen to the planet and without it every oxygen breathing creature would die, and trees take carbon dioxcide out of the air and so there is more room for oxygen.

Which of the following is true about coastal breezes?
9966 [12]

Answer:

They can blow from one direction in the morning, and from the opposite direction in the evening, and they are caused from differences in temperature of the land and the ocean.

Explanation:

The coastal breezes are breezes that occur near the coastlines. The general rule for the direction of the wind implies here as well as in any other place in the world, the wind blows from an area with higher air pressure toward an area with lower air pressure. When it comes to the coastal regions, because they have two contrasting landscapes, the wind changes direction during the day.

The land and the water have different properties, with the land heating up much faster and cooling off much faster, while the water heats and cools off slowly. This leads to larger oscillations in the temperature on land and with it larger oscillations in air pressure, while the temperature oscillations in the water are small and with it, the air pressure has much lower oscillation. When the land heats up, the wind blows from the ocean toward land because the air pressure is higher above the water, but when the land is cooler, the wind blows from the land toward the ocean because the air pressure is higher above the land.

The convergent plate boundaries are formed when two lithospheric plates move toward each other. The nature of a convergent bound
oee [108]

Answer:

1. oceanic-oceanic boundaries

2. oceanic-continental boundaries

3. continental-continental boundaries

Explanation:

The three types of plate convergence are:

1. oceanic-oceanic boundaries: this occurs when two oceanic plates clash; thereby the heavier plate forms below the lighter plate resulting in dark, heavy, basaltic volcanic islands.

2. oceanic-continental boundaries: this occurs when there is a collision between oceanic and continental plates, resulting in the downward movement of oceanic plate, while the volcanic arc rises on land

3. continental-continental boundaries: this occurs due to the massive crust of slabs clashing against each other. Thereby leading to big mountains forming from folded, faulted, and thickened convergent boundaries

Outline the significance of adiabatic temperature gradient in determining the earth’s convective stability
Vilka [71]

Answer: Adiabatic temperature gradient is the rate of change in temperature due to pressure under adiabatic conditions.

Explanation:

The rate of change of temperature due to pressure under adiabatic conditions is referred to as adiabatic temperature gradient.

In practice, since in the sea the pressure changes can be considered proportional to depth changes, the adiabatic temperature gradient is usually given as rate of change per unit depth, instead of per unit pressure and for practical purposes and calculations, the unit of depth is often chosen as 1000 m.

The natural and non-natural heat transfer influence the process of adiabatic temperature gradient.
