Differences: The shoulder joint has the ability to roll, whereas the elbow can only move in only two ways, open - close.

Similarities: The allow the arm to move in the ways that they do. The also allow us to do most of our daily tasks.

They relate because with these joints, depending on their ability, depends on their function and mobility.
