Let's first try the coordinates (2,1). 4x - 7 should be equal to 1 by replacing x by 2
4x - 7 = 4*2 - 7 = 8 - 7 = 1
So 4x - 7 = y = 1 when x = 2

Let's replace by the coordinates (4,9). 4x - 7 should be equal to 9 when x = 4.
4x - 7 = 4*4 - 7 = 16 - 7 = 9
So 4x - 7 = y = 9 when x = 4

Both coordinates verifies the equation, so both ordered pairs are solution of the equation.

I've added a picture of the graph of the equation with 2 points of both coordinates.

Hope this Helps! :)

Solve for each inequality. <br><br> 8 ≤ x - (-14)<br> 31 ≥ b - (-18)<br> -5 &lt; n + (-1)
Gennadij [26K]

Answer:

8 \leqslant x - ( - 14) \\ 8 \leqslant x + 14 \\ 8 - 14 \leqslant x + 14 - 14 \\ - 6 \leqslant x \\ x \geqslant - 6

___o__o__

31 \geqslant b - ( - 18) \\ 31 \geqslant b + 18 \\ 31 - 18 \geqslant b + 18 - 18 \\ 13 \geqslant b \\ b \leqslant 13

__o__o__

- 5 < n + ( - 1) \\ - 5 < n - 1 \\ - 5 + 1 < n - 1 + 1 \\ \\ - 4 < n \\ n > - 4

I hope I helped you^_^
