This is pretty much the same question I just answered...

So imagine this is a number line...

O----------------------------------------------------------------O

^                  ^                  ^  ^        ^                       ^

-10              -5                 0  \frac{1}{2}       3                      10

\frac{1}{2} is half of 1, so that should be the correct way on plotting the 3 points.

Hope this helped!

One airplane is at 7,000 feet and is descending 50 feet every second. Another plane is at
kari74 [83]

Given:

One airplane is at 7,000 feet and is descending 50 feet every second.

Another plane is at  1,000 feet and is climbing at a rate of 70 feet per second.

To find:

The time taken by planes to reach at the same height.

Solution:

Let x be the number of seconds after which the planes be at the same height.

One airplane is at 7,000 feet and is descending 50 feet every second.

Change in 1 second = -50 feet   (Here negative sign means decrease)

Change in x second = -50x feet

Height of first airplane after x seconds is

f(x)=7000-50x           ...(i)

Another plane is at  1,000 feet and is climbing at a rate of 70 feet per second.

Change in 1 second = 70 feet

Change in x second = 70x feet

Height of first airplane after x seconds is

g(x)=1000+70x     ...(ii)

Equate (i) and (ii), to find the time after which both planes are on the same height.

7000-50x=1000+70x

7000-1000=50x+70x

6000=120x

Divide both sides by 120.

50=x

Therefore, both planes are at the same height after 50 seconds.

El productor del números es 28. Sabiendo que el primer número es 3 unidades menor que el segundo, calcula los dos número
Rasek [7]

Answer:

Tienes 3 números, "x", "y", "z"

=> El primero es 20 unidades menor que el segundo:

El primero es "x", y el segundo es "y", entonces:

x = y - 20

=> El tercero es igual a la suma de los dos primeros:

El tercero es "z", entonces:

z = x + y

z = (y - 20) + y

z =  2y - 20

=> Entre los tres suman 120

x + y + z = 120

y - 20 + y + 2y - 20 = 120

4y - 40 = 120

4y = 160

y = 40

Si y = 40, entonces:

x = y - 20

x = 20

Además, z = 2y - 20

z= 60

RPTA:

x=20

y=40

z=60
