This is pretty much the same question I just answered...

So imagine this is a number line...

O----------------------------------------------------------------O

^                  ^                  ^  ^        ^                       ^

-10              -5                 0  \frac{1}{2}       3                      10

\frac{1}{2} is half of 1, so that should be the correct way on plotting the 3 points.

Hope this helped!

Nate

Using the slope intercept formula, we can see the slope of line p is ¼. Since line k is perpendicular to line p it must have a s
pantera1 [17]

Answer:

The slope of line k is - 4 .

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of given line p is 1/4

Let the slope of line k which is perpendicular to is m.

When the two line are perpendicular to each other, the product of the slopes  is always negative 1.

So, the slope of line k is given by

m=- \frac{1}{\frac{1}{4}}\\\\m = - 4

How do I find the x and y intercepts from two given points?<br><br> (-7,6),(-4,11)
V125BC [204]

Answer:

the desired x-intercept is (-53/5, 0); the y-intercept is  (0, 53/3).

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the equation of the line through the given points first:

As we move from (-7,6) to (-4,11), x increases by 3 and y by 5.

Thus, the slope of this line is m = rise / run = 5/3.

Use the slope-intercept formula y = mx + b.  Substitute 5/3 for m, 6 for y and -7 for x:

6 = (5/3)(-7) + b, where b is the y-coordinate of the y-intercept:

6 = -35/3 + b, or 18/3 = -35/3 + b.  Adding 35/3 to both sides, we get:

53/3 = b.

Then the y-intercept is (0, 53/3).

To find the x-intercept, let y = 0 and solve the resulting equatin for x:

0 = (5/3)x + 53/3, or 0 = 5x + 53.  Then x = -53/5, and the desired x-intercept is (-53/5, 0).
