The correct answer is: Silent Spring

Silent Spring was published in June 1962 by The New Yorker. The author was Rachel Carson, former biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. By the time she wrote this book, she was already a well-know nature author. Silent Spring describes the negative effects of DDT (a commonly used powerful pesticide) and it's entrance in the food chain, causing cancer and genetic damage. In it's conclusion she stated that DDT had irrevocably harmed animals and contamined the world's foof supply. As a result the chemical industry became her enemy.

This book was the first to aware people that nature was vulnerable to human intervention.

Which best identifies a defining characteristic of a procedural text?
aniked [119]
A big example of a procedural text is like a "how-to" guide, so the answer is A. it's meant to inform you how to do something. B is incorrect because procedural texts don't compare and contrast--like, giving you the how-to then giving you the how-NOT-to? in a procedural text, it's just giving you info. it doesn't usually include characters because it's a list of directions: set the oven to this temperature. remove after this many minutes. let cool. they don't put characters in as an illustration. procedural texts also shouldn't contain logical fallacies bc they're a set of directions, which are supposed to be factual and straightforward; there isn't really any misconceptions

Answer:

D. but

Explanation:

Option D is the correct answer.

"But" is the word that best replaces "therefore" in the sentence. The use of "but" is seen when it is used to introduce another statement that is added which is different from what was earlier said.

From the sentence, it is seen that adding "but" joins the two independent clauses together. The first part of the sentence talks about early photography being black and white. While the second part introduces when the color images arrived.
