The Declaratory Act was a reaction of British Parliament to the failure of the as they did not want to give up on the principle of imperial taxation asserting its legal right to tax colonies.

When Edlin is on his way he was shot by one leg by the sniper and soon on the other leg with the bullet of machine gun so he was not able to walk but move toward the machine guns by crawling. Edlin wants to go with his soldiers and fight against the German soldiers on the next day that's why he feel like he hadn’t done his job.
