Instructions:Select the correct text in the passage. Which sentence in this excerpt from “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Per

kins Gilman suggests that the narrator may be prone to hallucinations? I think sometimes that if I were only well enough to write a little it would relieve the press of ideas and rest me. But I find I get pretty tired when I try. It is so discouraging not to have any advice and companionship about my work. When I get really well, John says we will ask Cousin Henry and Julia down for a long visit; but he says he would as soon put fireworks in my pillow-case as to let me have those stimulating people about now. I wish I could get well faster. But I must not think about that. This paper looks to me as if it knew what a vicious influence it had!

Answer: When I get really well, John says we will ask Cousin Henry and Julia down for a long visit; but he says he would as soon put fireworks in my pillow-case as to let me have those stimulating people about now.

The sentence is contradictory. The author starts by saying that John has told her that he will invite Cousin Henry and Julia for a long visit once she gets better. However, she goes on to say that he also claims he hates the idea, and that he would sooner put fireworks in her pillow than invite those people. The speaker does not seem to acknowledge the contradiction, which shows that the information she is giving us is flawed, and suggest the narrator is prone to hallucinations.

Read the following:
guajiro [1.7K]

Based on context clues in the reading, "word salad." is defined as an unpleasant comment. thus option D is correct.

Why do people make negative remarks?

Some people criticize you in secret because they are jealous of your position in life. They believe that by pointing out your shortcomings, they can bring you down a notch, and they feel compelled to do this because they dislike your success.

Unmoderated comments are always ineffective. There are far too many kooks, nuts, racists, and evil people with nothing better to do with their time. so here in the paragraph word salad refers to unpleasant comments.

which literary term describes a recurring idea or image? A. Suspense B. Tension C. motif D. Catharsis
PolarNik [594]
I would say suspense or tension but I'm not entirely sure because a motif is just a design, a catharsis is like releasing emotion from a suppressed feeling, tension is dragging things out, and suspense leaves readers on the edge of their seat.
