Austen uses Mrs. Palmer as a social commentary on people who spend too much time in other people's business. Mrs. Palmer knows little of people's personal lives yet assumes and gossips about much of them. Her purpose is to be a comedic relief and a satire on people like this. This example is timeless and still applies today. Austen also cleverly uses Mrs. Palmer as a way to plant ideas in the reader's head, and get the reader and the characters thinking about the credibility of the statements that Mrs. Palmer assumes are true.

What could Brutus have done to give a more effective speech? Write two paragraphs that describe his use of persuasive appeals, c
Gnoma [55]

The reason why Antony beat Brutus in their speech was by presenting all three types of pleas which are the following: Ethical, Logical and Emotional. Brutus should have appealed to the mob’s emotions. His speech was very logical but lacked in emotions. This was needed to move people. If he had done this different the people would have been moved and sided with him.

How do the underlined words and phrases in the passage
Arte-miy333 [17]

Answer:

They demonstrate Sinbad's respectability and his generosity toward the porter.

Explanation:

In this passage, Sinbad's respectability and generosity are obvious from the way he is being described by the speaker. He tells us that Sinbad is magnificent, and that his is a noble company. However, the speaker also tells us that Sinbad was generous, as he invited the porter to sit next to him, poured him some wine and asked him his name and occupation.
